2003 Pax Syrah, Castelli-Knight Ranch, Russian River Valley

Once again this is one of the most singular expressions of Syrah in our stable. The dramatic slopes and bright orange soil continue to produce thrilling concentration. This year we think the wine is generally better balanced, with a lower natural alcohol.

Tasting Note:
Black Pepper, white pepper, leather, asian spice and blackberries. Sweet blackberries, more pepper and exotic gamey/meaty flavors intermingle on the dense and super concentrated palate of this wine. The tannins are big, ripe and spicy giving this wine its structure and adding another dimension of exotic spices.
