2003 Pax Syrah, Griffin's Lair, Sonoma Coast

Wild! Probably the one wine that we make that can be summed up in a single word. Very smoky, intensely concentrated and earthy, it walks the fine line between old and new world Syrah. The coarse sand and gravel that cover this hilltop and the intense oceanic breeze collaborate to make this wine distinct and stand out in our line-up.

Tasting Note:
Smoked meat, cassis, licorice, and graphite. The palate is bright and loaded with sweet cassis, hickory smoke, minerals, bacon fat, creosote and wild blueberries. The finish is chewy, long and is compelling in its balance of tannin and sweet fruit.
