2003 Pax Syrah, Alder Springs Vineyard, 'The Terraces'

This is one sexy wine. A good Viognier fruit set enabled us to keep the co-fermentation percentage at 5%. Our 2003 is very similar to the 2002, only more feminine and perfumed. Terraces is once again one of the most thrilling wines in the line-up, and even more reminiscent of E. Guigals' "La Las'" than in years past (We credit "La Las" with being our reference point and primary inspiration in making this particular Cuvée.)

Tasting Note:
Violets, peach liqueur, black raspberries, espresso and roasted meats make up the outrageous aromatics of this exotic wine. In the mouth the wine is full bodied but very feminine in that it is highly perfumed and soft. The mid palate is juicy and laden with minerals, while the finish is long, long, long, with more perfume, sweet red fruit, and peach pit.
