2003 Pax Syrah, Walker Vine Hill, Russian River Valley

This cool climate western Sonoma County wine is always impressive for its soft tannins and plush personality. It is once again all of that, but what makes it different from the 2002 is the bit more punch on the attack, which reminds us of a better version of the 2001. We all agree that the 2003 is by far our best Vine Hill Vineyard to date.

Tasting Note:
A beast! Aromas of sweet cream, blackberry liqueur, cocoa powder, tar and wild flowers lurk in the depths. The palate weight and concentration surpass any wine we have yet to produce. Layer upon layer of sweet black & blue fruits mixed with leather, tar and earthy mineral flavors. The finish is chewy and intense and oh so very long.
