2004 Pax Syrah, Obsidian, Knights Valley
This rock covered mountain-grown Syrah shows the effects of the late season heat that blasted California. This is a large scaled wine that is thick and lush and more reminiscent of the delicious 2002 than the surreal 2003. One word of caution, this is so delicious and easy drinking; if you open one, the rest will be gone in a week, so you may want to buy this one by the case.

Tasting Note:
Loads of plumy sweet currant, pepper, blackberry pie, tar and pipe tobacco on the nose. Sweet purple flowers and wet stones enlighten the heavy blueberry & huckleberries. Very thick and concentrated flavors of plum, earth and cardamom spice in the mouth. The finish is super long and detailed, bringing more sappy blue fruit and toast.
