2005 Pax, Cuvée Keltie

A barrel selection of 100% whole-cluster fermented lots of Alder Springs, Castelli-Knight Ranch, Griffins Lair, Majik, Audelssa, Kobler, Obsidian, Richards Vineyard and Dry Stack (Bennett Valley Vineyard), this 100% Syrah is loaded with rich earthy tannins and should not be confused with a ripe California fruit bomb. Always a very impressive wine in its youth, this is one that will evolve into something really special with some patience. This wine will just start "strutting its stuff" in 4-5 years.

Tasting Note:
Powerful scents of fresh blackberry, violets, black tea, iodine, bitter chocolate and bacon fat, this wine simply smells huge! A big mouthful of sweet fruit, licorice, menthol and graphite that is chewy and full leads into a tremendous mid palate with sweet tannins, tar, dried flowers, minty underbrush and loads of spice. The finish is thick and chewy with a frame of firm, sweet tannins that are wrapped in more exotic spice & fruit.
