2005 Pax Syrah, Lauterbach Hill, Russian River Valley

A humongous fruit set kept us busy dropping fruit in this vineyard up until the very end. All of our hard work paid off and the wine is very true to the past wines from this intriguing site. The 2005 seems to be less tannic than the wonderful 2004, and a bit more fruit forward. This is an exotic expression of Russian River Syrah that drinks well on release and softens into a balanced, elegant aromatic medium bodied wine.

Tasting Note:
Intoxicating aromas of violets, lavender, raspberry preserves, bacon, nougat and espresso please the nose while the lush, supple concentration of sweet fruit and exotic spices is held round in the mouth. The finish is detailed and precise and brings a quartzy, liggonberry, wet stone, purple fruit quality.
