2006 Pax Syrah, Cuvée Keltie, North Coast
This 100% Syrah is the pride of our cellar. The most effusive 100% whole-cluster fermented barrels are chosen for this blend. The only other criterion being it has to be from a used barrel so that the earth driven character and purity of fruit are not influenced by oak flavors or tannin. Typically a true vin de gard this 2006 is no exception, although this one might just be a little more generous in its youth, similar to the way the 2002 was.

Tasting Note:
Earth, tar, spice and a brilliant plum cake aroma fill-out the deep dark nose. Full bodied and expansive on the palate with deep dark cassis, white flowers, stems, earthy mineral driven flavors, blackberry, black cherry and cocoa powder. This 2006 is also showing more sweet fruit and "ripeness" even though alcohols look pretty close to that of it's 2005 counterpart.
