2006 Pax Syrah, Sonoma Hillsides, Russian River Valley
Every once in a while, we still receive correspondence about the 2002; we find it necessary to downgrade vineyards or sections of vineyards that do not make it into our top wines in any given year. The 2006 wine was just too much fun to bulk off; we love its exotic old world charm and seductive personality. It has the structure and depth to improve in the cellar, but plan on drinking it often and without pretense just like we plan to do.

Tasting Note:
Leather, sweet cherries, cured meat, Sweat and barbeque spice on the exotic and downright animale scents that emerge from the glass. Supple and straightforward Syrah aromas of plum, smoke and game follow the palate which is medium bodied and textured with the tannins of ripe stems.
