2006 Pax Marsanne/Roussanne/Viognier, Nepenthe, Alder Springs Vineyard, Mendocino County
This wine is a culmination of years of planning, a dedicated grower, a generous French wine making friend, a beautiful vineyard and someone lucky enough to have access to all of the above. This five acre piece was meticulously planted on a crown, 2700' high, at the very top of Alder Springs Vineyard in decomposing sandstone. This block was ingenuously laid out so that we could harvest all three varietals at the same time, which we did. Fermented in stainless steel and old French oak barrels as well as utilizing maceration pellicullaire, this exotic white is dense and concentrated with little flab.

Tasting Note:
Cloudy but a touch more brilliant than the Venus in appearance. Honeyed white flowers, wet stones, lychee and Anjou pears on the intense and focused aromatics. The palate is pure and precise with minerals, pear pulp and honeyed flowers. The weight of the wine is balanced by creamy acidity and the finish is heady and lengthy, sweetening up with more acacia and honey aromas.
